One of our consultants will contact you to make an appointment, either at your home or in our office. The purpose of this first appointment is for us to get an idea of what you are looking for. If you have pictures or articles that show the type of woodworking you prefer, it is generally helpful to bring them along. We will describe the different types of cabinetries (full overlay, inset, beaded inset) and different materials that we work with. In our showroom, we have many samples of doors, woods, colors and finishes, as well as moldings, hardware and accessories on display.

Once we have an idea of the scope of your project, we will provide a “budget” price for you based upon our first meeting. This “budget” price is a real price for your project, as we understand it. Your consultant will show you some simple sketches to help you envision the project and may give you alternate configurations and pricing if you desire. Often this second meeting leads to additional revisions and changes in design, materials, or scope. Of course, these changes will affect the “budget” price.

At this point, it is your decision as to whether to proceed with Star Services for you (SS4U Carpentry). If so, we would ask for a non-refundable binder, the amount of which is based on your budget price. Upon receipt of the binder, we will continue working on your project and fine-tune the design and the drawings. This will be a collaborative effort between you and your consultant. This process varies from customer to customer, but it usually takes from a couple of days to a few weeks to nail down all the details and finalize the design. Once this is done, we will prepare a contract with final drawings for your approval and signature.
